Race of the Teleporting Cars is in its final prototype state! Credit to Peter Farrow for the art, music, and sound. Credit to me for the programming and title theme. Each of the backgrounds were generated with a local stable diffusion model.

The biggest issue is in the driving controls being clunky,. This comes down to some level design with corridors being too small, bu also to the control scheme itself being a little too harsh. Hopefully, in this current state, the challenge of the driving, though difficult, is a skill players will improve at quite a bit. The controls are pretty simple, W/S to accelerate/reverse and A/D to turn left and right, and there is even a tutorial level to give the player a space to learn.

There is also a bit of a technical issue with the font not always appearing. A refresh normally fixes it, but this is something we would really need to fix if we were to continue.

I believe the game itself feels pretty good to play once you get used to the mechanics. It has become clear that the main "challenge" is related to exploring the different paths that can be taken, and that challenge has been fun for players to undertake. Going forward, adding more mechanics for obstacles would be a nice feature to help the levels stand out. Also, tracking the high scores long term would be helpful in inspiring players to grind for them as currently they are immediately forgotten on level restart.
